CARIS
	Current Agricultural Research Information System

CARIS is an international information system of the FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION of the UNITED NATIONS which assembles and distributes information on agricultural research projects currently carried out in, or related to, developing countries. a real possibility to take part in this system containing more than 30,000 records on projects from 132 national centres was given when the Slovak Republic was admitted as a regular member of FAO in November 1993 the philosophy, methodology and the method of information processing to the CARIS system is very similar to the AGRIS system there is a special terminological dictionary AGROVOC, in-house methodology and programme packages, which have an international validity and are obligatory for all participating countries system outputs are free for participating countries there are 300 projects currently (1999) in national CARIS database, which are being carried out in research institutes of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Slovak Academy of Sciences and at the universities LIST OF CARIS CONTRIBUTORS in Slovakia CARIS on-line
