The workshop will be held by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information for Agriculture (ISTIA) in Nitra, which is assigned to run the National AGRIS/CARIS FAO UN Centre and FAO Depository Library by the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture. The workshop is being organized under the auspices of the Government of the Slovak Republic represented by Ministry of Agriculture and the FAO UN Rome in cooperation with Subregional Office for Central and Eastern Europe, Budapest. The workshop will focus on the cooperation of experts from the field of scientific and technical information and National AGRIS Centres and FAO Depository Libraries in Central and Eastern Europe. The workshop should support institution building of information systems, reasses the opportunities and problems of cooperation and communication, and search for the most efficient ways to benefit governmental organizations, research sector, universities and other specialists. In addition the workshop should vitalize the existing world agricultural library network AGLINET. On the first day, experts will deliver papers and exchange experiences. On the second day there will be a study visit to FAO Depository Library and AGRIS Centre in Budapest and on the third day to the FAO Depository Library in Vienna. AGROINFOS follows in the traditions of previous AGROINFOS workshops which have been taking place since 1992 in The Slovak Republic and in connection with activities such as technical consultations on the use and function of AGRIS FAO in Central and Eastern Europe. These events have been supported by the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Agriculture Organization of United Nations, in cooperation with Subregional Office for Central and Eastern Europe. The working language at the workshop will be English with simultaneous translation into Slovak . Accomodation will be arranged in Nitra at Agroinstitute. Transport to Vienna and Budapest will be provided by bus. The number of participants is about fifty. |
